Of course we kitties are adorable all the time. And we show you how much we care in lots of ways — our happy purrs and paws, rubbing against you, slow blinking, sleeping with you at night. But we have a few ways to show you our love that are so cute they’re irresistible. (And we know it too.)
Here are the cutest ways we show you our love:
- We chirp at you.
This is different from the chatter we throw at birdies through the window. It’s a cute, kittenish chirp that we give to our favorite people, and not many cats do it. If yours does, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
- We greet you with a question mark tail.
When cats are happy, we hold our tails high. But when we are really, really happy to see someone, we curve our tail tip over so it looks like a furry question mark. My tail is almost always in this position, and if you’ve caught sight of me out wandering on my leash at a cat show or pet shop, you may have seen it.
- We do air headbutts.
This one is pretty rare, but it’s one that I do. When you hold your hand up above your cat’s head, if they have this predilection, they will raise up on their hind legs to meet your hand. Like chirping, if your cat does this, you’re one of the lucky ones.
- We roll over to expose our bellies…then reach out and touch your hand.
Lots of cats show their bellies to display their love and trust. And if you are a smart human, you know better than to touch! At least for the majority of cats. There are rare ones (like me), who enjoy belly rubs. But what’s even more special, and cuter, is when we reach out and touch your hand with our paw when we’re in that position.
- Gift giving.
If your cat brings you their little catnip toys or other small gifts, you are special in their eyes. It’s a sweet and caring gesture, and shows they are looking after you. Although I have to say, if the gift is alive, or once was, you might not find that as cute. But it’s still loving.
- Dancing Paws.
Lots of cats knead when they are happy, especially when they are getting cozy on soft surfaces like blankets and beds. But when they are doing it while they’re standing, like they’re dancing, it’s extra cute. I’m kind of famous for this. I’ll even have dancing paws on hard concrete!
Does your cat do some of the above? Let me know in the comments!
