I got to have a therapy cat visit at the big hospital this week, and I had such a happy time with the patients!
I got to Pediatrics right after a few kids had left, so there were just two girls for me to see. But they were awesome visits. The first girl was amazing — she totally had the kitty energy down. She knew exactly how to pet me and make me feel at home. It wasn’t long before I was purring enthusiastically and making happy paws. My human showed her how to get high fives from me so we did that too. My human even got an Instamatic shot of us doing a high five! I almost didn’t want to leave.
The second girl was sweet too. She was sicker so she laid in the bed while she petted me. I settled in and purred lots for her. She loves kitties and her mom said that she often visits with the neighbor’s cat. She promised to get her her own once she got well.
We also visited Skilled Nursing, where there are a lot of adult patients staying long term. The first room we went in, the woman cried out excitedly and held out her arms. She has cats at home, and she was missing them so much. She was so happy I was there she started weeping. So I spent lots of time with her. She and her daughter were so grateful I could come spend time with her.
We also visited an elderly lady, sitting up in a hospital wheelchair with her hand wrapped in gauze. She only spoke Spanish, and I think she was hard of hearing because her two sons and the nurse kept having to repeat what they said to her several times. Which was actually kind of good for my human because she knows a bit of Spanish and it made it easier to understand them. She was a nice lady and petted me a few times.
This was such a good visit! Everybody was so nice, and I had a very relaxing time. The big hospital can be a little overwhelming and stressful for me because we are all over the place there. But I had such a lovely time, I didn’t even complain about being in the carrier on the drive home.
Here are some other times I visited this hospital:
